..... the first thing that Jerry and I noticed were the
hundreds of motor scooters parked so neatly along the streets in downtown
Taipei..... and those traveling being so cautious and polite to us
......certainly different from Chicago.....
..... coffee
and sunrise at Sun Moon Lake was a memory to take home..... we strolled and
explored each day .....had our first mango and beef stirfry, apple-filled pork,
grape/shrimp pilaf ..... our first stir-fried sweet-potato leaves.... all
with strangers sharing knee-high benches.....
.....the EVA air flight from San Franciso was great
..... no stops..... direct flight ...... we enjoyed the departure lounge
privilages, private van transporation, boutique hotels, flexible free time
to explore alone..... we will be going Roads2 again .....
..... my
husband enjoyed Taiwan's finest Old Street in Sinhau, just outside
Tainan. early 1920's architecture and businesses that cater largely
to locals...... he had his first 'douhua', soft tofu pudding
snack ..... I had a 'golden bull horns' sweet buttermilk croissant....
..... the Taipei County Hakka Museum is a must-see....
for visitors, the depth and diversity of culture in Taiwan is not well
understood..... and this museum is a great way to start ......
..... my wife really enjoyed this travel experience.....
we enjoyed camping and backpacking in our early years, and this travel
experience included Sun Moon Lake, Kenting National Park, Hualien and Taroko
Gorge.....
Taipei 101 ......wow, the highest enclosed building in the
world until Lotte Super Tower 123, Seoul in 2014. Burj, Dubai is
taller, but not enclosed at the top.....
..... my brother and I wandered around Snake Alley
..... that was quite an experience ..... when in Taipei, stop by for an evening
look ..... if you can find the time ..... visit Keelung's famous Maiokou Night
Market ....
..... a first-time experience in Asia..... the
Taiwanese are wonderful hosts.... happy, smiling people ..... impressions that
last .....
..... we saw it ..... the hillside National Palace Museum
with over 650,000 priceless Chinese cultural artifacts..... too many
for display ..... this huge collection is one of the best we have
seen in all of our travels.....
